My next wifi antenna project is an omni directional usb antenna...  as you can see from the pictures below, this isn't so much an antenna as it is just a water proof housing and mounting for a USB card.

The aim is to put the card high enough over my house so all my neighbours can get easy line of sight to it.

I assume that if the cards have a 300 meter range out doors with a reasonable data rate then that will be enough homes to max out the avaliable bandwidth before consideration needs to be given to the next node.

My costing so far suggest that I could put homes on line for less than a $100 fixed cost.
